Students are anxious for tomorrow’s first day of school (or is it the parents?)

And so the scent of a newly sharpened pencil, completely unused notebooks and crisp pad papers and the sight of new, colorfully eye-catching school bags (luckily for some who can afford) bring me the nostalgia of the school opening. And I guess, these also drive the schoolboys and girls in frenzy as they look forward to going back to school anew.
New and/or old friends to enjoy and share daily activities with, new set of teachers to deal with and learn from: these and more excite my Gia and Geline, and perhaps many of the young students here in the Philippines who are to report to school tomorrow for the opening of another school year.

After jostling and haggling for what we thought were the best school materials for our children, we, parents, then took time to neatly cover and label all of their things. Read the rest of this entry »
